Burrowbridge Coronation Hall: History and general information

Burrowbridge Coronation Hall was constructed in 1953, the result of years of hard fundraising and hard work by the local community it has served ever since.

The hall is one of the largest in the district and underwent a complete refurbishment in 2003 thanks to grant support from the Community Fund; County and District Councils; the Parish Council; Wyvern Environmental Trust and many donations from within the community.

The Hall's size and location make it the perfect choice of venue for parties, wedding receptions, meetings, exhibitions, drama productions and live music.

We are only a few miles from Taunton, Bridgwater, Street and Glastonbury and have good links to major routes, including the M5, yet the hall enjoys a picturesque, rural setting on the Somerset Levels.

The front of the hall looks out across Saltmoor and in the background, beyond the banks of the River Parrett, Burrow Mump rises above the surrounding countryside.

.

The Hall is used by a variety of local clubs and groups as well as staging community events throughout the year.

The Coronation Hall's facilities

The hall consists of the wooden floored main hall with a stage at one end, carpeted bar area and a spacious kitchen which is fully equipped with ample work tops and two serving hatches.

The Millennium Room, a small meeting room, is situated behind the stage. There are toilets, including disabled facilities, at the front and rear of the building and there are ramped accesses for wheelchair users.

Seating and tables will accommodate 120 people, making the hall the ideal venue for wedding receptions and private celebrations. The stage can provide the perfect setting for a disco or live music. We may be able to provide a disco and some lighting at an additional cost, please enquire when booking.

A large projection screen and projector is also available by prior arrangement, please ask when booking.

The stage is, of course, perfect for drama productions and concerts too. The hall can comfortably seat up to 200 people when the seating is configured for such events. The meeting room behind the stage is ideal as a dressing room.

In common with all public buildings, there is a no smoking policy throughout the premises.
